Course Description
Patient confidentiality is essential to both patient care and the ethical behavior of acupuncturists. Thus, acupuncturists should possess insight into patient confidentiality, how it relates to the ethic principles of health care, and how to maintain patient confidentiality. With that in mind, this course will review patient confidentiality, how it relates to the ethic principles of health care, and perhaps, most importantly, how acupuncturists can work to maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to the laws and regulations outlined by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
